Mohammed Islam began his law enforcement career in 2007 with the New Jersey Department of Corrections as an Officer. He was assigned to the Special Operation Groups and appointed to the Correctional Staff Training Academy as an Instructor. He has acquired certification from the Police Training Commission as an Instructor in the following: Physical Training, Oleoresin Capsicum, Baton, Active Shooter, and Drill/Ceremony. In 2018, he was promoted to the rank of Investigator within the Special Investigations Division (SID). He completed the Basic Course for Investigators at the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice Academy in Sea Girt, New Jersey and received the Merit Award upon graduation. Investigator Islam has been the lead Investigator and have assisted in the following types of investigations: assaults, sexual assaults, domestic violence, financial crimes, gangs/security threat groups, narcotics, and internal affairs. He is a certified Polygraph Examiner and a member of the American Polygraph Association (APA).

Prior to Investigator Islam’s career in law enforcement, he served four years in the Unites States Marine Corps. Upon completion of his service with the Marine Corps he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. While in the Marine Corps, he conducted a total of three tours in Iraq during Operation Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. The Marine Corps have instilled in him exceptional leadership traits, great work ethics, and communication skills. In 2018, he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Felician University.
