Lieutenant Mahasin El-Amin joined the Plainfield Police Department in 2005 and was assigned to the Patrol Division. In 2007, she was assigned to Operation Cease-Fire Team, responsible for investigations of fatal and non-fatal shootings with intended target/s. In 2014, she was assigned to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as a Task Force officer. In 2016, she was promoted to the rank of Sergeant upon returning to the Plainfield Police Department from the FBI. She was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Bureau as a Supervisor for the Domestic Violence and Megan’s Law Unit where she was responsible for the Registration of Sexual Offenders of all tiers.

Lieutenant El-Amin has conducted numerous Domestic Violence workshops throughout the State. Additionally, she is an Instructor at the John H. Stamler Police Academy in Scotch Plains, New Jersey and teaches Conflict Resolution, Crisis Intervention and Cultural Diversity to police recruits.

Lieutenant El-Amin received her Bachelor’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. She is also a member of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives.
